Unnatural Growth

I grew up on a small farm and spent many hours of my childhood bent over, weeding gardening rows. This work is a meditation on the mixed bag of growth that occurs in the midst of difficult and painful life circumstances.  This large-scale piece (10’x10’) was installed directly on the gallery floor on a bed of dry clay.
The same earth that nourishes fruits and vegetables also brings forth abundant weeds.
