Chia to Plum
This work was part of a larger collaborative project--see below. Here is the artist statement for my portion.
The sizes of embryos through the first 12 weeks of pregnancy are often represented by foods. Though changes are happening exponentially on a microscopic scale, like a long and tiring walk to an unseen destination, visible progress is nearly non-existent. With 80% of miscarriages happening before week 12, this time of growth in size and complexity can also be unstable. Waiting to know what to feel, many women walk this arduous path quietly and ambiguously.

Collaborative Project: Walk With Me
Chia To Plum was part of a larger collaborative group project with BYU art students. We each created weavings and embroideries that spoke to the idea: Walk With Me. Below is the group statement and a slide show of the works.
Group work: This collaborative peice embodies many ideas inspired by the act of walking. The methods themselves, weaving and embroidery, speaks to the nature of taking time rather than short-cuts, and a consistent and step-by-step journey. Walk with us through our individual interpretations of the worlds we experience.
